Happy New Year. I hope you have a great year. Here’s a brief summary of what happened last year.

Research

I became an M1 student. Since there were no clear deadlines like for bachelor’s or master’s theses, I spent time leisurely without much anxiety or pressure. To briefly introduce my research, it involves automatically converting sequential code for CPUs into code for GPUs. Until around October, I was tuning the GPU code to be output. Since then, I’ve been working on implementing the automatic conversion program. I had more opportunities to present and attend lectures than when I was a B4.

Part-time Job

I was working part-time and outsourcing at the same job as last year.

Syachihoko

I continued attending Team Syachihoko’s live shows and events from last year. This year many members are graduating, so activities might become more active.

  • 1/3 Shachi Moude @ Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium: I think there was a wrestling-themed poster and a circular stage. They unveiled the English version of Otome.
  • 3/28 “Tensai Bakabon” Release Commemoration Free Event @ Sapporo Factory: Milcs and Tako Niji were also there. Radio GTR public recording before the live.
  • 4/18 “Tensai Bakabon” Release Commemoration Free Event @ Osaka Castle Open-Air Music Hall: Despite it being April, harsh sunlight. Pon-san was in a wheelchair due to a leg injury. First performance of Ike Ike Hollywood.
  • 5/9-5/10 Makuhari HOLLYWOOD @ Makuhari Messe: Got startled by the explosion effects. Purchased the Shachi book.
  • 5/17 “Tensai Bakabon” Release Commemoration Free Event @ Nagoya Oasis 21: Still couldn’t keep up with the new songs.
  • 7/14 “Shachi-hon” 10,000 copies breakthrough commemoration “Let’s Go, Shacha Summer” Talk Event @ Umeda Burg 7: Sakura-san, Sakamoto-san, the store manager and editor Tsuda-kun. As expected, neither of them had read it.
  • 7/26 CBC Radio Summer Festival 2015 @ Nagoya Hisaya Square: Felt like they were pushing the anthem too much. Also saw Silent Siren.
  • 8/28 Shacha Summer @ Gamagori Laguna Ten Bosch: Honoka covered Eternal Trinity. Fireworks were going off at the end. Syachihoko-ru was also released around this time.
  • 9/30 Hall Tour 2015 Early Halloween Party @ Nagoya International Conference Hall: Four people except Pon-san and Nao-chan appeared with changed colors. Setting where they were put under a spell.
  • 10/17 Hall Tour 2015 Early Halloween Party @ Nagasaki Chitose Peer Hall: Drove there taking turns among three people. Lots of hardcore fans, which was fun.
  • 10/18 61st Nagoya Festival @ Nagoya Hisaya Square: Came directly from Nagasaki. About 5 songs but it was fun.
  • 10/29 Event commemorating the release of “Ee Ja Nai Ka” @ Umeda Tower Records: Accompanying.
  • 11/15 “Ee Ja Nai Ka” Special Event @ Port Messe Nagoya: Akimoto-san’s birthday.
  • 12/10 Year-end Appreciation Festival Solo Live @ Nagoya ELL: Hono and Teru covered Galaxy Express 999. They were really pushing Yowamushi Pedal.

Appare

It’s an energetic group, getting excited with non-stop singing and dancing for about 2 hours.

  • 10/16 Nationwide 47 Prefectures Tour @ Tokushima club GRINDHOUSE: First time seeing them.
  • 11/29 High-speed RAVE FESTIVAL @ Kyoto FANJ: 2-hour one-track non-stop live.

Motorcycle

I replaced the oil, brake fluid, and throttle wire. Also, I want to do something about the tires and grip heaters. I got my large motorcycle license in autumn.

Gamba

This season, Gamba finished second in the Nabisco Cup and League, and won the Emperor’s Cup. The performances of Nagasawa and Yonekura left an impression. I haven’t been to watch in person since summer. Next season will be at the new stadium.

  • 3/7 Gamba 2-2 FC Tokyo @ Expo: First stage opening match. Rain like last year’s opening match. Patric and Usami scored one each to take the lead, but Muto scored twice to end in a draw.
  • 6/11 Gamba 2-1 Kofu @ Expo: 2nd stage opening match. Usami scored a PK just before the end of the second half for a comeback win.
  • 7/19 Gamba 2-2 Marinos @ Expo: 2nd stage 3rd match. Got tied after leading 2-0.
  • 7/22 Gamba 1-1 Tosu @ Expo: 2nd stage 4th match. Got tied again after leading 1-0.

Escape Games

I still haven’t succeeded in escaping even once. I manage to reach the final major problem with some time remaining, but can’t solve it.

  • 4/25 Detective Conan Escape from the Magic Castle @ Shinsaibashi: 8th escape failure.
  • 10/25 Evangelion Escape from the Third New Tokyo City @ Shinsaibashi: 9th escape failure.

Table Tennis

I switched to penhold drive. Table tennis is one of the few ball games I can play myself, so I wanted to increase the frequency, but in reality I only played about 3-4 times a year. I didn’t participate in any tournaments, just practiced and built stamina. I play at table tennis halls around Higashi-Osaka.

Competitive Programming

I participated in CODE FESTIVAL, an on-site programming contest for the first time. I’m frustrated that the seniors who invited me and the friends I invited all competed in the main event.

  • 12/5 CODE THANKS FESTIVAL @ Telecom Center: Came in 3rd. Got yakiniku.

Other

During summer vacation, I went to Yahoo! JAPAN for a 5-day internship.
